Dr. Amar Parikh graduated from the University of West Georgia with a B.A. in Biology in 1996. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Mercer University School of Medicine in 2002. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Baptist Health System, INC in Birmingham, Alabama in 2005. After residency, he pursued further training in Nephrology and completed his fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2007. Here is served as Chief Nephrology Fellow during his last year. After completing fellowship, Dr. Parikh joined Southside Urology & Nephrology, practiced in our South Boston office serving the people of Halifax & surrounding counties till he moved to our Martinsville office in April 2019, where he is serving the patients and communities of Martinsville, Henry & Patrick County and the surrounding counties. He is on staff and sees patients daily at SOVAH Martinsville in Martinsville, VA. In 2010 he was named Planetree Physician Champion. He is board certified in Internal Medicine by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Nephrology, Renal Physicians Association, Medical Society of Virginia and National Kidney Foundation. He and his family reside in Danville, VA. He and his wife Amy have a son and daughter. Dr. Parikh is passionate about caring for patients with kidney disease, using his training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology to provide the best possible care to his patients.
